The part of the system that takes the heat
The condensing unit is where all the heat pulled out of your walk-in or case gets dumped outside. On a Lakeland or Tampa roof in August, it’s working in some of the worst conditions any equipment sees: direct sun, hot roof air, salt near the coast and summer storms.
We repair and maintain condensing units for walk-in coolers and freezers, remote display cases and remote ice machines. That includes the compressor, the fans, the electrical and the refrigerant circuit, plus clearing the coils so the unit can breathe.
Call us if your condensing unit…
- Is humming but the fan won’t spin
- Trips the breaker or blows fuses
- Clicks on and off every few minutes
- Has a coil packed with dirt, leaves or cottonwood
- Took a hit in a storm or lost power
- Has oily spots on the lines (a sign of a leak)

Why does my walk-in quit on the hottest days?
A condensing unit with a dirty coil, a weak fan or a low charge can scrape by in spring and then fail when the roof hits peak heat. Cleaning the coil and checking the fan and charge before summer heads off most of these calls.
Should I worry after a power outage or storm?
If the walk-in comes back cold, probably not, but watch it. Surges can damage contactors, controls and compressors. If it’s not cooling, the fan isn’t spinning or the breaker keeps tripping, call us.
Do you replace compressors?
Yes. When a compressor fails we’ll find out why first, since a compressor rarely dies on its own, then give you the repair price and a replacement option for the whole unit so you can choose.
Does salt air near the coast matter?
Yes. Salt corrodes coils and electrical parts faster near the beach. Units in Clearwater, Dunedin, St. Pete and along Tampa Bay benefit from more frequent coil cleaning and inspection.
